Situated in the Glasgow West End, the licensed premises that are Wintersgills has a history going back over 70 years. Trading began in July 1936 after renovations by Messrs. Lennox & McMath. At that time it was part of a large pub chain called Samuel Dow's and consisted of a public bar with a large sitting room. During 1938-39 James W Weddell added a large cocktail bar in a stylised 'Deco' design and also extended the pub's teak frontage. Though often painted and minor changes made to the decor the original features can still be seen today.

The pub since the 40's has had several owners including Andy Ross who bought it in the 60's and named it 'The Andros.' It was then sold to John Wintersgills in the early 1980's who gave it its current name and eventually sold it in 1990 to Alan Hamilton. Ex Celtic footballer Jim Brogan bought it in 1994 but it was also frequented by many other footballer luminaries from different clubs like Rangers Jim Baxter. Brogan sold it on in 2003 to Belhaven Brewery (now owned by Green King) who ran it under a managed house until November 2007 when it was leased to the current licensee Paul Shevlane (Shevlane's Bar, Springburn.)

A Jukebox is available in the Lounge & Snug Bar also a 60" Plasma screen showing all live football in main bar and new to view 3D television in the lounge.
